Experience Pittsburgh nostalgia like Forbes Field – see the wall of the former ballfield where Babe Ruth played and where Bill Mazeroski hit the Home Run to win the 1960 World Series in Forbes Field. 

See Dippy the Dinosaur up close, as he makes his home outside the Carnegie Museum.

Climb (only) partway up Cardiac Hill to see where Jonas Salk developed the Polio Vaccine.

• Tour Dates/Times: Saturday, June 5, 9am - 11am, and Sunday, June 6, 9am - 11am.

• Tour Starts/Ends: Phipps Conservatory (outside of entrance), 1 Schenley Drive, Oakland.

As per current CDC guidelines, we do not require masks for fully-vaccinated persons on our tours, but will rely on “the honor system” as to whether attendees are vaccinated.

Tour Host: Sue Flaherty is a Pitt Alum and an outdoor enthusiast who collects random factoids. Sue has been a volunteer for DOOORS OPEN Pittsburgh for the last several years. As a Trip Leader for Venture Outdoors, Sue had led and assisted on Kayak Trips and Trail Walks. She is a Jefferson Award Recipient for volunteer work.
