Two women are in love with the same man. Two men are in love with the same women. Now, lock them all in a single house and see what happens! Sor Juana, the famed Mexican poet and nun, sets out to write a Spanish Golden Age farce, with amazing success. Leaning into every convention the genre holds (including not one, but TWO lights-out scenes!), Sor Juana both embraces and gently parodies the genre. Love, jealousy, and ego collide with coincidence, elaborate schemes, and drag to create an utterly ridiculous and endlessly entertaining night at the theatre.
This staged reading will be presented at Big Bear Cafe's upstairs bar.
