Martha Groves Perry & The MGP Band with Brian Wachhorst

The Art Boutiki Music Hall

No upcoming date/times for this event.

After selling out Art Boutiki for her 2023 album release show with Kenny Schick, and her 2016 EP Release Show with ArtemesiaBlack, MARTHA GROVES PERRY returns to Art Boutiki with her rhythm section – the MGP Band – for a fun, joyful night of original, badass Americana.

Martha’s music speaks clearly about hard truths with her characteristic insight and humor. Her lyrics are poetry, evoking strong visual and tactile imagery. Captivating melodic hooks, precise harmonies, and incisive commentary on herself and the world as she sees it combine with fat, intoxicating, Americana grooves created in partnership with producer Kenny Schick of Basement 3 Productions in Nashville.

Martha has three releases, including her critically acclaimed 2023 album Call Out. She completed a highly successful, 6-city tour in the US midwest & southeast in May 2023 with her rhythm section, The MGP Band, with Kevin Kriner on bass and Yuri Selukoff on drums. The tour included a performance at The Bowery Vault in Nashville TN, sharing a bill with Greg Camp of SmashMouth and Kenny Schick.

This show marks a new collaboration with singer-songwriter Brian Wachhorst, who, backed by Epic Nelson, will open for Martha. Brian is a founding member of local bands The Aftershocks and YellowWood Junction and is a very successful and longstanding Bay Area musician and booking agent with deep ties within the local music scene. Martha is very excited to bring Brian to the stage in San Jose, and they will continue this new collaboration when she opens for YellowWood Junction at Sweetwater Music Hall on February 1, 2023.
