The Detroit Theater Organ Society’s illustrious Organ Pops Concert series inaugurates its 2026 season with another afternoon of top notch organ music at the historical Senate Theater. For over sixty years DTOS has brought in some of the nation's and world's finest organists to harness the power of our Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ. This year, in the Senate's 100th year, we are happy to continue that tradition here in Southwest Detroit!

To start the season we are bringing you the superlative talents of organist, Brett Valliant! Don’t miss your chance to experience the majesty, nuance and diversity of sounds that only a theater pipe organ can provide.

About the Artist:

Brett Valliant is an organist who delights in every opportunity to perform the music he loves on the instrument he loves. Whether seated at a concert hall organ, a majestic church instrument, or a mighty Wurlitzer in a historic theatre, Brett is truly at home.

His fascination with the organ began at just three years old, inspired by the sound of the instrument in church. At age five, he began piano study with Ruth Cline, and soon thereafter started organ lessons with Anna Jeter in Wichita, Kansas. By twelve, Brett was serving as a church organist, fulfilling the dream he had embraced so early in life. At nineteen, he embarked on his first international concert tour.

For twenty-one years, Brett served as Organist and Music Director at First United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas, where he performed on a large pipe organ featured on the church’s televised worship broadcasts, reaching thousands throughout the Midwest. He also serves as Artist-in-Residence for the Wichita Wurlitzer, performing frequently on the historic former New York Paramount Wurlitzer, now installed in Wichita.

Brett studied organ at Wichita State University with Robert Town and continued his studies privately in both the United States and Australia. His three recordings have been featured on National Public Radio’s Pipe Dreams as well as on the National Bible Broadcasting Network.

Today, Brett is one of two resident organists at the iconic Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Arizona, home to the world’s largest theatre organ and a destination that entertains thousands of guests each year. In addition to his performances there, Brett is widely recognized for accompanying and scoring silent films and appears annually at numerous film festivals.

A frequent performer at conventions of the American Theatre Organ Society and the American Guild of Organists, Brett has toured extensively throughout the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. In 2021, he was honored as Organist of the Year by the American Theatre Organ Society.

Parking is available in a gated parking lot on Gilbert St., behind the theater.
