Join us at our Sempre Chamber Music Sunday Concert Series featuring great music drawn from Beethoven and French composer, Ernst Chausson who demonstrate the highs and lows of love and connection to the world. Soloists on the Chausson Concert for Piano, Violin and String quartet, Op 21 include world-renowned pianist, Yerin Kim and violin virtuoso nonpareil Denise Dillenbeck along with the Sempre String Quartet featuring Vanessa Moss, Peter Miliczsky, Jessica Jasper and Brooke Scholl.

Music to be played includes Beethoven's Op. 132 String Quartet in A-minor, the heart of which includes a 23 minute Adagio that is nothing less than the "music of the spheres" as he uses familiar classical forms, ancient polyphonies, and hearkens forward to the dissonances of modern music to contemplate and come to acceptance of a life of great moment and great suffering. 

Suffer he did, with a complete loss of hearing — a embarrassing defect in a composer of music —at the end of his life. Yet, as Op. 132 proves miraculously, Beethoven's impairment was no obstacle to writing some of the greatest chamber music ever written. In fact, the loss of physical hearing may have contributed to hearing in his mind the most stately and beautiful themes interweaving and energizing the process. The listener is drawn in to the contemplation, is taught patience as the inner world unfolds through time, and comes out transformed at the end of one of the most profound pieces of chamber music.
