The Cedar Lake Historical Association and Hesston Steam Museum are partnering to tell stories of steam power history. Steam Through History is a week-long program highlighting the history of Lassen's Resort, from its 1896 founding with a single steamboat that ferried passengers from the Monon rail depot to all points around the lake, through its bustling years as a summer getaway. The signature experience will be cruises aboard Hesston Steam Museum's 1915 steamboat, when Cedar Lake history comes alive while discovering the science behind steam power.

Your steamboat ticket includes admission to The Museum at Lassen's Resort to experience the brand new Story of Cedar Lake exhibit.

Additional programs will also be scheduled in the museum all week long.  The museum is open to the general public daily as well from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM during Steam Through History week.

Note: For those unable to board or ride the steamboat, a free dockside steam talk is scheduled at 3 pm Monday-Thursday of Steam Through History Week.

Steam Through History is sponsored by Indiana Humanities, Legacy Foundation, Indiana Historical Society funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc., the Town of Cedar Lake, Schillings, & Austgen Kuiper Jasaitis P.C.
