Get ready to play some D&D!
Dungeons & Dragons is one of my favorite long-form improv games. It combines so many of my favorite things into one beautiful experience. Narrative structures, character creation, shared imagination, and surprises just to name a few.
In this class, we will cover the various improv techniques one needs to effectively and confidently play D&D as both Game Master and Player Character. This includes the concept of "rolling and stretching", using characters as "world-building engines", story beats & time management, and much much more.
I ask that students who sign up for this class have some basic understanding of the rules of the game, so that we can focus on the improv. Knowing how to read & fill out a character sheet will help things go smoother for everyone. I suggest enjoying one of the many D&D Actualplay Shows, if you need a better understanding of how the game works.
