Status is at play in every interaction we have—on stage, off stage, everywhere. It shapes relationships, fuels tension, and, in the words of Keith Johnstone, holds the audience’s attention whenever it’s in transition. Mastering status isn’t about playing “high” or “low”—it’s about understanding the subtle shifts that make scenes dynamic and alive.

In this two-day intensive, we’ll take a deep dive into how status drives relationships and stories. Through exercises and practical scene work, you’ll explore:

  • The hidden status games we play every day—and how they translate to the stage.
  • Techniques to shift status effortlessly and truthfully in your scenes.
  • How power dynamics create humor, drama, and compelling storytelling.
  • Ways to increase your awareness of status in real life—and use it to unlock spontaneity and connection.

No experience required—just a willingness to play. Whether you're an improviser, actor, educator, or simply improv-curious, this workshop will change the way you see human interactions forever.

Ever wonder why some scenes instantly grab an audience’s attention? The secret is status. Join us for this immersive two-day workshop and discover how shifting status can transform your improv, your acting, and maybe even the way you move through the world.
