Big lapels, touch-tone phones and Watergate: everything was awesome in the 1970’s. Soap Operas were also at the height of their popularity fifty years ago as they began to delve into edgier subjects like drug abuse and pre-marital sex.  

Aside from being an incredibly fun genre to play in, Soap Opera gives us the opportunity to practice a number of important improv skills: making distinct character choices, defining the elements of the scene, and having strong emotional connections. With it’s close-ups, reaction shots and long lingering stares, Improvised Soap Opera is also perfect for virtual improv.

This 6 week On-Line Performance Lab will focus on improvising scenes and stories in the style of 1970’s Soap Opera We’ll focus on creating and inhabiting detailed characters with specific lives, locations and relationships. This class will culminate in a performance.
