If you’ve ever felt that pull to create your own ensemble, instead of waiting for someone else to cast you, this workshop gives you the spark and structure to actually begin. It’s designed for improvisers ready to take that first bold step: shaping an idea into a company that exists in the real world.

We’ll focus on the groundwork that brings a new group into existence. You’ll define what your ensemble stands for, the tone of the work you want to create, and the purpose that will attract the right collaborators. From there, we’ll translate vision into action: the concrete decisions, early moves, and simple systems that turn “I should start something” into “I have a group.”

And because starting a company is ultimately about the joy of playing, we’ll break up the planning with a bit of improv, just enough to reconnect you with the spark that launched this idea in the first place.

This isn’t about scaling, marketing, or long-term operations. It’s about ignition: the creative and practical choices that make a group real. You’ll walk away with a mission that feels true, the first steps mapped out, and the confidence to begin ... trusting that, just like any scene worth playing, the rest reveals itself once you take that first move.
